Everybody seeks a tandem

Hallways of the Language Centre of the Free University Berlin are full of students.
It´s the class break, and while some students enjoy a coffee with a “Brötchen”, others like Mona and Aurélie, a Franco-German tandem, are on their way to the Independent Language Learning Centre (ILLC – SLZ), where they usually meet once a week to improve their language skills.
You may already know the case study written by Maria Giovanna Tassinari “Tandem Programme at the Language Centre of the Freie Universität Berlin“ I´m referring to in this post; but I wanted here to give a view from the inside and ask students who actually have a partner for their feedback.
The tandem programme is an extracurricular initiative of the Language Centre. It is focused on language learning in a university context. Among others, its goals are to improve language skills, increase intercultural awareness, promote the development of student autonomy inlanguage learning and increase multilingual awareness and competence.
